Hartford Stage Streamlines Operations, Expands Ticketing Options, and Increases Ticket Sales with Blackbaud’s Arts and Cultural Solution



Founded in 1963, Hartford Stage is an award-winning nonprofit professional theatre in Connecticut. The theatre serves the community through partnerships, educational programs, and humanities initiatives. Presenting six to eight productions a year, the company has been recognized by the Tony Awards and the New York Critics Circle Awards.

The Challenge:
Unable to access patron information at the point-of-purchase, the staff could not ensure that each patron received the benefits that matched their giving or membership level. Also, the off-and online ticketing process was time-consuming and cumbersome. The Hartford Stage Company needed to replace its ticketing systems in order to better serve their patrons and streamline operations.

The Solution:
The Hartford Stage Company implemented Blackbaud’s Arts and Cultural Solution, including The Raiser’s Edge for fundraising, The Patron Edge® for box office ticketing and The Patron Edge Online® for online ticketing and website management. Both staff and patrons have benefited from streamlined transactions, expanded ticketing options, and easily accessible donor and membership information.

The Results:
After implementing Blackbaud’s Arts and Cultural Solution, transaction times have decreased by more than three minutes, allowing staff to work more efficiently and cut down on waiting time. By gaining control of their website and online ticketing options, staff members are now empowered by the ability to change pricing, seating options, and instantly offer last minute discounts.  And, because Patron Edge Online is so user-friendly and allows patrons to choose their own seats, online ticket sales have increased. Entering constituent information into one system, the development staff is now confident that supporters receive the benefits and service that they deserve.
